Bush insists US not in recession 2

Mr. Bush comments that the loss of a job is painful. Painful??? It is utterly devastating. Unemployment checks do not cover Cobra payments, housing, and food. Savings are depleted, credit cards are maxed just for basic expenses. When that new job finally comes along, it is very likely a lower paying situation which does not help replenishing savings or paying off those usurous credit card bills. The loss of a job is the start of a slide downward. It is even worse when the unemployed person is in his/her fifties.
I suggest that Mr. Bush has no idea what happens when you are unemployed. The movie "Trading Places" brings about my vision of seeing him stripped of his family legacy and his fortune to make him feel how "painful" not having a job really is. Experience is a very good teacher.

The reason he has no idea how painful unemployment is, is that he has no idea how painful employment is. He's never had a real job in his life. He's never had to. He's never worried about "putting food on his family" because he was born, and has lived his entire life, filthy fucking rich.

It's not (necessarily) that he doesn't give a rat's ass about regular working folks because he's a heartless sonofabitch. It might just be that he doesn't give a rat's ass about regular working folks because he is absolutely clueless that we exist.
