Obama can't win the big states
by Clyde
7:33 AM

Since the California primary the Clinton campaign had tried to make it out that Obama can't win the big states. Never in my life have I heard such a poor excuse for why a candidate is unfit for the office. The whole premise of the argument is worth about as much as a fart in a windstorm.

What the fuck do they think we are, Republicans? That we will believe any piece of oral flatulence their pie-holes will spew? The fact of the matter is that once the primaries are over, the Party will come together and support the nominee. It does not matter if it is a big or little state; the democrats of that state are going to rally their support behind the candidate just because the alternative is so bad.

It does not matter if it is Clinton or Obama, blue states will stay blue and we may even be able to pick up a couple of purple along the way. Oh sure, there are those who say that if Obama doesn't get the nod then the young voters will bolt. Well if you are putting your trust into the younger generation to get the nominee to the White House then you had better get ready for a McSame presiDuncy because all you have to do is look at 2004.

Then there are those who claim that if Clinton is somehow denied the nomination then those voters will shift towards McSame. To tell you the truth, if that is all it takes for those to give up their values as democrats then I don't want them in the Party anyway. If they want to take their ball and go home because they didn't get their way, then I say fuck'em.

When in the last 50 plus years have we had candidates we were totally comfortable with? The fact is that the presidential election for my entire lifetime has always been a choice of the lesser of two evils. This one is no different and it should not be treated as such. Both candidates have appeal on a variety of issues just as they also have a lack on others. It just all depends on what is important to the voter and who they think will best promote those views.

Personally come November I will be casting my vote for the democrat no matter what.

We are truly, a nation of pussies!
by Clyde

What in the fuck has happened to the America that I know and love? Not long back, the people of this country actually believed that sticks and stones may break their bones but words will never hurt them. Alas, that is no more!

Nowadays, the people of this country can't handle a discouraging word if were spoken in sign language! The flap over Obama's "bitter" comment is beyond ridiculous. It is borderline psychotic. Are people so fragile that they have to run to Dr. Phil whenever someone uses a fucking adjective anymore? If one were to look at recent events, they would have to say yes.

The fact of the matter is that people bruise too easily these days and we have become a nation of namby-pamby limp wristed panty waists and if that characterization hurts your feelings, oh well! Write Dear Abby because she might give a fuck! We, as a people, had better grow the fuck up and quit worrying about someone's bad choice of words and start worrying about when the defecation is going to hit the rotary oscillator again.

Now I know in the world of politics, you grab whatever you can to hit your opponent over the head with during a campaign but Jesus Christ, can we just stick to the fucking issues? To be frank, I could give a rat's ass whether the people living in small town Pennsylvania are offended because they were described as being bitter. What in the hell does that have to do with the occupation and the economy?

Now we could try to blame this on the librul media. But the fact of the matter is that they are just giving people what they want. As political junkies, we are conscious of the issues but most Americans are not and they only begin paying attention when it comes time for an election. The rest of the time they are politically retarded as Jethro on Quaaludes and the last thing they want to hear about is the socio-economic impact of the derivative from prehistoric zooplankton under anoxic conditions until it tops $3.25 a gallon. (For any freepers out there, that's just another way of saying oil. Just take your time, sound out the words and then Big Bird will help you with the letter of the day.)

The point is that we need to get away from being offended anytime someone makes a remark that doesn't fit into "our" brand of discourse. Different people say different things and if we start crying foul every fucking time someone says something we don't like we are going to get nowhere.

Let the buyer beware
by Clyde

All over the news we see and hear the candidates talk about bailing out those who are facing foreclosure because of predatory lending and adjustable rate mortgages. Yet not a word is being said about those of us with fixed rate mortgages. Do we not suffer from the same economic woes as everyone else?

The fact of the matter is that the foreclosure crisis is affecting everyone, but only those at the very edge of the precipice are being discussed. I understand that political candidates have to pander to the masses in order to be elected, but the pandering needs to be spread across the spectrum and not just on those who are being showcased on the nightly news. There are thousands, if not millions of responsible homeowners in need of some assistance. But because they were smart enough to stay away from an APR mortgage it is assumed by those in Washington that all is well.

While I do believe in giving those in need a helping hand, there is a certain amount of personal responsibility that is being overlooked. When I first bought my house in 2001, I did not go into the deal blindly. I took my time, did some research, and taught myself what the best mortgage option was for me. Many of those who are being talked about did not.

Let's be frank, many of those with APR mortgages were trying to make a quick buck, plain and simple. They bought a house they knew they couldn't afford in the hope of making a fast buck by flipping it in four or five years. Or they were duped into it by a mortgage broker who inflated their income and played number games with their credit to sell a mortgage they suspected would be in default before the mortgage expired. To put it plainly, people were out to get paid and now they are caught with their pants down and now we need to bail them out because of our "booming economy."

I'm sorry but I feel no pain for those who were dumb enough to keep their APR for this long. I know it sounds cruel but if these people were not smart enough to read the tea leaves a couple fucking years ago, then they are getting what they deserve. With Bush using the national credit card like a trust fund baby to pay for Iraq, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that eventually the bill would come due and those who did not plan for it were going to be fucked like a Paris Hilton video.

This crisis is not going to go away anytime soon and we need real homeownership reform now so we do not have this problem in the future. Personally what I would like to see is government sponsored mortgages with interest just enough to cover the cost of overhead on the mortgage. No more fixed rate or APR at all. Make it a one time deal for every American to own a home if they choose.

There would have to be stipulations of course but it could be done. The buyer would have a chance at this once and only once. No commercial property would be considered and the buyer would need to stay in the home for at least half of the life of the loan with exceptions being few and verifiable. All insurance considerations would be mandated as they are now by private mortgage lenders but no "Act of God" stipulations would be allowed. Up front costs would need to be less than 1% of the total in order to get the buyer the room to make the move and do any home repairs.

Just think what this would do both for the individual and society as a whole. They say one of the biggest causes for divorce in this country is over money and a lot of that has to do with carrying a mortgage. I'd be willing to bet that because the mortgage payment would be considerably lower because of no interest being paid, we would see some decline in divorce rates. Not to mention, when people buy a home, they usually want it in a good neighborhood and are willing to keep it that way. Result, lower crime rate.

Maybe I am suffering from Cranial to Rectal Insertion, but it makes sense to me.
