It's in the interest of the public that not just the fawning press covers up what Obama's really about. He never says anything, although he says nothing beautifully. It's the quantity as well. The few just reported. He's gotten a third more, more than a third - more coverage than McCain.
Mary Matalin - Hannity & Colmes - 7/23/08
But the question is, is that if the three major networks in this country are going to send their three rock star anchors to go cover Barack Obama, isn't it fair that they send them with John McCain goes there?
If the New York Times is going to publish an op-ed by Barack Obama, shouldn't they publish John McCain's rebuttal a week later and not reject it?
(Snip)
But, Mary, this is basic fundamental fairness to me. You know if the three major networks - if they're going to send Katie Couric and Charles Gibson and Brian Williams, they ought to send them when John McCain goes. And that, to me, is as much evidence as we need about unfair coverage and that does influence the American people. It almost seems like a campaign contribution.
Sean Hannity - Hannity & Colmes - 7/23/08
"My prediction is that the coverage of Obama on this trip will be oriented toward countering the notion he has no idea what he is talking about on foreign policy and defense issues and instead will prop him up as a qualified statesman," Limbaugh told The Associated Press. "McCain, on the other hand, is a known quantity on these issues and his position does not excite nor fit the mainstream media's narrative on Iraq and Afghanistan, so they simply ignore it and him."
Rush Limbaugh - yahoo news
Hmmmm.... Sounds like someone is advocating the return of the "Fairness Doctrine!"
(Emphasis mine)

Has Rush listened to McCain lately? He does realize McCain's the one who mistakes Iraq for Afghanistan and Sunni for Shia, right?
And that this same media holds Obama to a MUCH higher standard when he speaks than they do McCain. If Obama had been making these same mistakes that McCain's been making, his campaign would be toast. Instead, networks have started cutting out McCain's gaffes so they're not publicized. How is that fair? We're not being shown that his mental faculties are diminishing and that's pretty serious when you're handing him the keys to nuclear weapons and putting the lives of thousands of troops in his hands.
The New York Times refused to publish his piece because it was just one big ball of whining. He didn't talk about issues, he just complained about Obama. Why should they be forced to publish something that has zero integrity just because it's from a Presidential candidate?

The New York Times is perfect for the title of the "Paper of Record" here in the Peoples Republic of Debt. But if you want more balanced news read Pravda.

Yes, if this country (especially our under forty crowd) stands a chance at once again becoming one of the worlds most informed citizenry, then of course, we have to reinstate the FAIRNESS DOCTRINE and not let the free market decide(as Reagan said) the content of the "NEWS".Of course then Limbaugh would and his cronies would have to admit that they are strictly commentary and not real news. What a bunch of disillusioned idiots we'd have on our hands then. Of course our corporate paymasters will never let Americans see what a deranged old shit McSame is. His letter to the MOONIE owned N.Y. Times was very revealing and even our uneducated populace would have realized that McSame is insane and not fit for a job that requires mental skills. He is like a drunk that calls the Whitehouse at 3 am and screams and cries (not me) about what he thinks he is saying about the sad state of America. The MSM works really hard to cover McSames psychosis. Way harder than they do to actually report a true story that has any relevancy to the lives of real people in America. Their corporate masters say it will hurt their profit (that is what it is all supposed to be about now) but they really know that even the opiated masses that we call Americans would actually take to the strets if they knew even a little of the truth about our government and what they have done to ALL of the people of the world, especially Americans. All in the name of GREED and POWER. That includes planning and carrying out 9-11.
