There are new developments in the story of missing Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway. It seems that the Dutch authorities have been digging in the back yard of one of men believed to be involved with her disappearance. You know what that means don't you. Some Einstein at one of the alphabet networks is going to get a bright idea and we will forced to listen to Rita Cosby bark like a harp seal for another month.
After watching Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice on all of the talking head shows last Sunday, am I the only one who would love to see someone slap her in the forehead just to see if a Pez shot out of her mouth?
It has been said that in Washington, the Friday night document dump is a lot like wiping your ass with a salad grater, because it is usually just "chocked" full juicy bits. Well this week's dump included an internal Justice Department order by Attorney General Alberto Gonzales giving hiring/firing authority to two aides, Kyle Sampson and Monica Goodling. I guess we now know why Gonzales has a poor memory of the events.
The DC Madam case has claimed another victim, one Randall Tobias. Mr. Tobias resigned his position as director of Foreign Assistance and administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development after it was revealed that he used the "escort service" owned by Deborah Jeane Palfrey. ABC News identified Tobias by phone records provided by Ms. Palfrey and when asked, Mr. Tobias admitted he used the services for "massages" but has since quit in favor of another service that uses women mainly from Central America. Members of the Minuteman Project were dispatched to Washington and Colorado Representative Tom Tancredo immediately began erecting a wall around Tobias's home.
White House Press Secretary Tony Snow returned to work this week after being treated for cancer. White House officials handed out yellow cancer bracelets to the press corps for Snow's first briefing but the reporters refused to wear them because it clashed with the yellow streaks down their backs.
Little Lord Pissypants broke out the crayolas this week so he could veto the legislation to further fund the occupation of Iraq. This makes about as much sense as telling a Dahmer victim that he'll never amount to shit. After all, if you really think about it, all Chimpy McFuckNuts had to do was issue one of his infamous signing statements and totally ignore the will of congress. It isn't as if it is a new tactic for the little dweeb. Not to mention that the "timeline" was non-binding and carried about as much weight as Ann-Dee Coulter's push up bra. And he accuses the Democrats of playing politics with the issue.
In a related story, when giving his speech justifying his total disregard for the will of the American people, Bush said that it was important to give the surge a chance. That it was vital that we give the Iraqi government a chance at securing the capitol. Well his plea would carry more weight if it weren't for the fact that the "burgeoning democracy's" parliament has decided to take a two month summer vacation. Yes folks, doesn't it make you feel good knowing that while your tax dollars are being blown away like a Shi'ite at a Sunni wedding, Maliki and his posse are going to Disneyland.
Finally: Last Tuesday was our third anniversary here at dubyaD40 and I have to say that is has been an amazing ride. From what started out as a mere pastime has grown to become somewhat of an obsession. During this time, we have had our highs and lows, good moments and bad, made some friends and probably some enemies, but the one thing that has always been a constant is our desire to help make our country better and to provide a place where people can sound off on their own. So thanks for three great years and here's too times that are going to come. Peace!
