How do you define incompetence? Well one way is to think that by no longer calling it the "war on terror" in favor of the "global struggle against extremism" is somehow going to magically increase support for a failed foreign policy both at home and abroad. It has been crystal clear for quite some time that Bunnypants and his administration does not have a clue on how to handle the job of running a nation but the support he receives from the Republican Party is enough to make a person wish for a bout of projectile vomiting just to ease the pain.
It could be argued that finally the Republican Party has figured out that you cannot promote peace by the point of a spear but that argument does not pass the smell test. You see, the Republicans have mastered the art of breaking down a message to a ten second sound bite but when it comes to acting upon that message they go completely off the reservation. Just look at what has been said and done over the course of the last decade and it shows that they want you to pay attention to what is said and ignore what is done.
In the campaign for his first term we were told that George Dubya was a uniter not a divider but after five years in office the American public is more polarized than ever before.
Like Moses on the mountaintop Bush proclaimed that he would have transparency in government, but when it came time to fess up and show who attended the secret energy meetings with Cheney, the White House claimed executive privilege.
States rights was the mantra of the Republican Party for years but when it came time for the Florida recount in 2000, the Republicans ran crying to the Supreme Court faster than Michael Jackson runs towards a Boy's Club.
During the height of the Lewinsky scandal all we heard was how no one was above the law but yet when it is a Republican in the White House you have to be convicted before anything can be said or done about it.
Everyone applauded Shrub when he made the remark that he wanted Osama bin Laden dead or alive, but almost four years later we are supposed to believe that a six foot Arab with a dialysis machine strapped to his back still cannot be found walking around in a desert.
The Republicans love to talk about how much they support the military especially when they are sending them off to war but when it is time to pay the veterans back for their sacrifice, the neo-cons instead decide to under fund the VA.
The majority of the tax cuts were supposed to go to the bottom two-thirds on the socio-economic ladder but it was the top one percent who really benefited.
These few examples are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain" mentality of the Republican Party of today and it is only when enough people get tired of being treated like mushrooms that it will stop.
The Republican Party is now wholly dominated by right wing extremists and they are hell bent on creating a two class economic system and single Party rule over the government. They have dedicated themselves to creating a Christian nation where all other faiths are no longer welcome. They want to spread our version of democracy to the world while at the same time they are choking the life out of the freedoms that every American has enjoyed since the inception of the founding father's grand experiment.
So in essence the problem with the "global war on extremism" is that it is being fought by radical extremists to begin with. It is doomed to failure and our nation's future has never been as bleak as it is now and the only way to change is to get rid of these ideologues. It is time for the American sheeple to stand up and say "no more" to these right wing wackos.
