We lost our brother
posted by
Dookie The Webmaster
8:25 AM
Last night, dubyaD40.com lost a brother and owner of this site. Clyde was involved in a fatal car accident that took his life. Most of you know him as Clyde who writes "Clyde's Corner" each week. We know him as Kenny. Clyde being his middle name. Outside of being an owner of this site, Kenny worked a full time job just like us. He was a blue-collared welding inspector that loved Nascar and politics.
Kenny recently turned 46. He is survived by 1 sister and 2 brothers.
I'm not good at writing things like this so I apologize. Your condolences are welcome but flowers are not. If he were here, he would say VOTE, don't send flowers.
R.I.P. Kenneth Clyde Bolles - Our best friend and brother:
 We love you.

As I sit here blubbering at my desk, I can't help but feel the irony around the timing of Kenny's death. He's fought so long and hard to get the Bushites out of office and he's not alive to see it through.
So I ask everyone out there who is a loyal fan of this site. In remembrance of Kenny, just vote, and bring 10 friends with you when you do. And as you vote, say a prayer or whatever your philosophical beliefs allow you to do for Kenny.
Kenny was that friend that comes by once in a lifetime. Dookie and Wally won't tell you this, but the 3 of them have been like brothers. It's sad beyond words.

Although I didn't know Kenny very long, I consider it a privilege to have met him. It was only last week that we were at the local drinking spot and Dookie took some pictures of Kenny for the new website. I can't help but smile as I think back to him posing in front of the bar, mug in hand. I know he'd want us to smile.
Kenny's family (that includes you Dookie and Wally) will be in my thoughts and prayers. Love you guys!

Oh, mercy!
We're crushed, Agnes and I. Sick. Poleaxed. Dumbstruck. Bereft. Sitting here bawling.
We talked and talked about having a beer together, "if I ever get out that way". Sitting back and talking football and politics . . . and laughing. Always laughing.
"Hey, bro, thought you might get a laugh outta this . . . " and a link to something insane and hilarious and a two or three note exchange.
If it's not too much trouble, could one of you shoot me an e-mail w/ an address so (barring flowers) we can at least send a note to Kenny's family?
He is gone, but he will NOT die in our hearts.
We loved him, and we love you all.
Peace.

I'm just heartbroken. He welcomed me to the site with open arms and I'll never have the opportunity to actually meet him. I have the feeling I missed something special.
Dookie and Wally - my heart goes out to you.

Clyde, I will miss your sharp political insight, your wonderful wit, but most of all, I'll miss sharing this world with you. The chat won't be the same without you.

Mrs. Wally here again. Dookie and Wally drove out to his house this afternoon, trying to piece things together and get a grasp on what happened. When they return, I am their designated driver for the rest of the day. You will be able to find us at the local watering hole later this afternoon. Not sure how long we'll be there as Dookie has a date with his daughter for her first costumed Halloween.
Bob - we'll pass along information when we get it. We don't have any information right now.
Please bear with us for a while. The site will be updated eventually. I'll post updates here until Dookie and Wally are back online.

Kenny's big sister here. Really, I'm his big sister. Obviously, we are all devastated and appreciate all of your kind words. Kenny was a real light in my life. I remember the morning he was born. Dad called the house to let me know I had my third baby brother and I tol him not to bring him home. I wanted a sister. But once I saw those long, double rowed eye lashes, (and the ladies who knew him will attest to those beautiful lashes), I was hooked. He was almost as much mine as he was Mom's. And my heart is breaking. At this point, Kenny will be buried on election day in our home town. We felt it was appropriate. If Barack Obama wins (and please, God, make it so)..he will celebrate with Mom and Dad. If he loses, he'll be glad he's dead. We will post the obituary as soon as our brother back home approves what we've written. God bless all of you. And thank you for being our baby brother's friends.

I am so shocked and very sad....I adored "Clydes Corner". Talent, and a biting wit.
"Clyde" will so missed by all.
My heart goes out to you guys and know how much pain you are in.
VOTING-will be a "TRIBUTE" to Clyde this time around.

Kenny and I were roomies for almost 5 years and I couldnt have asked for a better one. Kenny was the type of guy who would give you the shirt off his back if he knew it would help you out. I wish I could count the number of times that Kenny helped me out. Now I'll never have the chance to tell him again thanks for everything. I'll also remember all the "arguments" we had regarding politics. I'll also remember all the Hawkeyes and Chiefs games we watched together and bitching about how bad the seasons for both were going. Arguing about Ford vs Chevy in NASCAR was always a good time with Kenny. Later my friend, you were one of the good ones and I will miss you.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes and support. It’s times like these one discovers who they can lean on. My brother Kenny was one of those people you could lean on when times got tough. So many of us experienced his generosity first hand or witnessed him giving to someone in need at some time during their association with him. I am truly one of the luckiest of so many that knew him. I got to spend 46 years with him, give or take a few years that we lived to great a distance to see one another often enough. We did not hang out together as much in the last years he was with us, but luckily we worked together and were able to stop by one another’s office and stay caught up even if for only a minute or so. In retrospect I think it was a just a subtle acknowledgment of our love and respect for one another. Kenny was so much like our Dad Clyde his namesake in the sense that he was not adverse to telling you what he thought about anything, whether it be a “Dam you’re an asshole” or “I love you Man”. He wore his heart on his sleeve and I know in my heart that he would rather be hated for being himself than be loved for being someone he was not. I hope Kenny can get his WiFi to connect up there so he can keep an eye on his baby DubyaD40 and the rest of us as well. With the greatest sadness of my life I bid you farewell Kenny and hope you are there when I get to the end of the tunnel to show me the way. Love, your brother Mike

Oh my God.
I was sitting in my living room around 10:30pm, after taking my younger kids out for Halloween, and hanging with a friend who was visiting....and my husband walked in and said, did you know one of the guys at dubyad40 died???
I said - WHO? He told me. I have emailed Wally directly about various issues over the years, and I knew Dookie had a baby Dookie a year or so ago. My husband told me, Clyde. Your website has been my homepage for, I think over 5 years....
As soon as my friend left, and I got my youngest in bed, I am sitting down to post to you all.
At this point, I don't really know what to say, as I didn't know Clyde. But I was about to write to all of you guys this week and say, hey - if Obama wins, I may just jump on a plane (I hate to fly), and come down and have a beer with you guys!!! Something we've been joking about for years!
Wow.
Having been in the very painful place of having lost several close people in my life the past year and a half - my heart goes out to ALL of you.
I hesitate to say anything political at this time, such as maybe his exit point timing was so that he could move to a higher plane to watch over the voting, to make sure it's fair. That seems trite. But in a way, noble. And that's what you guys all are - noble, and courageous. Including your families, who have supported you all.
Having lost several loved ones recently, I've found it does take a while, to finally get to a point where you can see and feel past the pain, to know, to really know, with peace, that they are as close, if not closer, than they were before. Please trust me on this.
My heart aches with yours. Some day, we'll all raise a glass together!
Take good care, ~Mary

I love to argue and Clyde was the best of the bunch. We had some doozies but always kept our hostility in perspective and usually ended our most intense disagreements with mutual apologies. He seemed a compasionate man. It's a family tradition to have this Tennyson piece read over our ashes and I find it a comfort, and ponder it often. Godspeed Clyde. Crossing the bar Sunset and evening star, And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar, When I put out to sea, But such a tide as moving seems asleep, Too full for sound and foam, When that which drew from out the boundless deep Turns again home. Twilight and evening bell, And after that the dark! And may there be no sadness of farewell, When I embark; For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place The flood may bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot face to face When I have crossed the bar.

And this is my wish for Clyde and his family especially, but even Wally and Dookie. We can argue some other time. I don't know who wrote this but it doesn't matter.
May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Oh my gawd. I cannot believe this. Something made me log onto this site that I haven't visited in AGES, and this is what I see. I talked to Tracy (from Wally's) and she told me about Chuck, and I am SO sorry to hear about that, too. I always loved Kenny. He truly was a guy that would give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it. And he would talk to anyone: no matter what their affiliations, beliefs, politics, etc. And...I am just at a loss for words. You all know I am not a big crier, but DAMN did I just shed some serious tears. I will miss him, and I am so sorry.

If you are wondering what Kenny was thinking about when this picture was taken last week at the bar: Wally said something stupid. Kenny was pondering his usual sarcastic response. Dookie snapped the picture.
This is a classic Kenny look for those that have never met him in person.

Dear Linda, Mike, and Curt...
I want to tell you how deeply sorry I am for your loss. I loved your brother dearly. I pray the pain to be lessened over time.
I have known Kenny for almost twenty years now. Less than a year ago, Kenny lost a "brother", and the healing has been difficult. I have spent nearly every Wednesday evening with him since then, as well as many other evenings, not to forget our fabulous "Tequila" Saturday nights.
I am almost at a complete loss for words, except to say I love Kenny and will miss him so much.
To Dookie, Wally, Mrs. Wally, and to all of the "Bowling Night" crew: We'll see you on Wednesdays, cause we got to keep the memories alive.
To Anna and Jonathan: You are loved beyond belief.
Please, VOTE!
Always,
Denise

I'm always at an immediate loss for words at times such as these. The loss of a friend like Kenny leaves an immediate void that will never be filled. My thoughts since hearing the news from "Wally" have been rampant. Sorrow for the loss, love for the memory, gratitude for the pleasure of knowing him.
Kenny came into my life as a patron. I had the distinct pleasure of serving up his Bud Light with olives at the watering hole frequented by Kenny, "Wally", and "Dookie". The sound of his boisterous voice bellowing, "Wait till you here THIS! You won't belieeeeve this shit!" before going into the daily rant, is something I will never forget. Kenny challenged me learn what's going on around us. To not just read the news, but know how it affects all of us. Kenny inspired me to know the issues. Take a stand. Back it up with facts, not just rhetoric. Take shit from no one, but look out for your fellow man as well.
Kenny left my life as friend, and without him knowing it, a mentor. He truly made me a better man.
Here's to you my brother.
Peace. Love.

To everyone that knew and loved Kenny, my deepest heartfelt sympathies are with you.
I didn't know Kenny long, but we had become dear friends this past year and I grew very fond of him-communicating practically daily and getting together at least once a week for "bowling night." My heart is aching now, and I don't really know what to say.
Kenny was remarkable. He truly was a guy that would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. You don't meet too many people like him, and I count it a blessing to have known him.
Here's to you, my friend. I will miss you beyond words.
Lubya always,
