$peculators come through for Exxon

ExxonMobil profit, $11.7B, sets U.S. record

ExxonMobil reported second-quarter earnings of $11.68 billion Thursday, the biggest quarterly profit ever by any U.S. corporation, but the results fell well short of Wall Street expectations and shares fell in premarket trading.
The world's largest publicly traded oil company said its net income for the April-June period came to $2.22 a share, up from $10.26 billion, or $1.83 a share, a year ago.

Revenue rose 40% to $138.1 billion from $98.4 billion in the year-earlier quarter.

Excluding an aftertax charge of $290 million related to an Exxon Valdez court settlement, earnings amounted to $11.97 billion, or $2.27 per share.

Analysts on average expected ExxonMobil to earn $2.52 a share on revenue of $144 billion, according to a survey by Thomson Financial. The estimates typically exclude one-time items.

This should be illegal

All of the major oil companies cut their production or they would have shown a much larger profit. It's like I've been saying for over a year, supply and demand have nothing to do with the oil prices. It is all being controlled by their lackeys who are manipulating the oil prices through the stock market by bidding (betting) on the oil future prices. I watched the senate hearings today. The Dems wanted to impose rules on the speculators. The republicans refused and demanded that the oil prices were so high because the Dems wouldn't vote for off shore drilling. The repubs ignored all(a whole lot, even from oil company testimony)of the evidence of the tripling of the price of oil that these speculators caused just in one year. Enron pulled the same tricks on electricity before they finally folded. The republicans totally ignored the evidence and said that we have to open more lands for the oil companies to drill. Last year we gave them an 8million acre tract of land to drill. It still hasn't been touched. It was the most pathetic site I have seen. We need to start and finish a revolution.

md You really should start being careful. Just cause you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you has a lot of truth to it now that something like 250,000 new beauracrats are looking for someone to justify they're useless jobs and you're it. Time to start being careful. Keep your powder dry dude. These sites are just a start I recommend you make.
