Joint Chiefs Chairman Says U.S. Preparing Military Options Against Iran

The nation's top military officer said today that the Pentagon is planning for "potential military courses of action" against Iran, criticizing what he called the Tehran government's "increasingly lethal and malign influence" in Iraq.

Adm. Michael Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said a conflict with Iran would be "extremely stressing" but not impossible for U.S. forces, pointing specifically to reserve capabilities in the Navy and Air Force.

"It would be a mistake to think that we are out of combat capability," he said at a Pentagon news conference.

Still, Mullen made clear that he prefers a diplomatic solution to the tensions with Iran and does not foresee any imminent military action. "I have no expectations that we're going to get into a conflict with Iran in the immediate future," he said.

It's way too late for impeachment at this point. They had their chance in 2007 and didn't take advantage of it. Now we'll be stuck in a third war and once we stir Iran, we'll need way more than we have available. They're not going to roll over like Iraq, whose army hadn't fully redeveloped after the first Gulf War. Iran is prepared and not about to lose anything to the US.

And of course they're giving weapons to Iraq. If someone attacked Canada and they needed weapons, we be giving them weapons.

They can't even seem to decide what they're going to war about - nuclear weapons or involvement in Iraq. Sounds a lot like the lead up to Iraq - is it the WMD or the sudden urge to spread democracy?

The saddest part of all are the people who will believe this crap and get behind it. They'll end up voting for McCain and he'll take the White House. All because the media is scared to tell the truth and Hillary doesn't have the moral fortitude to drop out of the race instead of bolstering McCain's campaign at Obama's expense. Thanks, Hill. Let us know when Chelsea gets drafted.

The U.S. will attack Iran and it matters not a whit who occupies the White House in 09. Obama will attack Iran. Why? Because we HAVE TO! The U.S. attacked Iraq one month after Saddam started writing his oil contracts in Euros, and when punk boy stood on the aircraft carrier in his toy uniform he stated the only true thing since he took the office when he and that damn sign declared "mission accomplished". Because it had been. The very first thing we did was tear up all the Euro contracts and rewrote them in the dying "Petro dollar" format. Now that the Iran Bourse has done the same thing it's attack or crash even earlier than we're bound too anyway. All this dying, terrorizing Iraqis and building forever temporary bases we're still behind the eight ball as far as money goes. We've been counterfeiting bucks for 40 years or more and absolutely CAN NOT have them coming back here, whatever the cost. And if that cost is a few tens of thousand dead Americans and who gives a fuck how many Iranians, then so be it. Whoever is in office when the attack takes place will probably have the standard 90 plus percent approval rating Presidents always get no matter how big a lie their mouthing off, it'll scare the shit out of most people and everybody will wrap their brains in the flag just like they did after 9/11 and get behind the idea for long enough to get mired down in yet another of histories great terrorist actions. If we want to spread democracy the first and best place to start bombing is right below Baltimore and just North of the Virginia line. You went to public schools, you figure out where that is.

The US now has air craft carriers parked off the coast of what many believe has the largest oil reserves in the world. Where would that be? Iran? NO

Venezuela.
Now go to the mall.
