War hero or just a shitty pilot?

John McSame got shot down, how does that make him a war hero? He didn't charge a pillbox or fight off a battalion of NVA single-handedly. Fact is that the media has morphed him into some damn Audie Murphy and it just doesn't pass the smell test. Remember, the only true war hero for the Republicans in 2004 was Bush because he was able to fight off the bloodthirsty horde of Cuban invaders bent on taking Alabama.
John McCain touts war hero image as Clinton and Obama bicker
With Democrats locked in a bloody primary battle, John McCain set his sights on the general election Friday, releasing his first ad since sewing up the GOP nomination.
"The American President Americans have been waiting for," proclaimed the 60-second spot, which transposes footage of the 71-year-old Arizona senator with clips of himself imprisoned in Vietnam.
Coming seven months before the election, and as Obama and Clinton continue to fight for their party's nod, the ad is a clear attempt by McCain to define himself before Democrats do it for him.
It also comes as McCain kicks off a "Service to America" tour next week that is intended to highlight places that have shaped his life, from the Naval Academy in Maryland - where he famously graduated near the bottom of his class - to a military base in Mississippi.

Now, here's a special thought. Let us not forget, there is no statute of limitations on war crimes. Attacking civilian populations and civilian objects is a war crime. St. John McCrazy was shot down while attacking civilians and civilian objects in North Vietnam, ergo, Sen. St. John McCrazy is a self admitted war criminal running for President of the U.S. Ain't that amazing?

First it was straight talk tour. Now it's service to America tour. Like its a damn rock concert tour. What a crock. When will trained machinists stop flipping hamburgers and hit the streets? Or the majority of voters actually vote?

Don't forget, King George protected the skies of Texas in his obsolete fighter plane.

The U.S. has a habit of making heros of those that I find hard to understand, so I just attribute it to the longstanding tradition of re writing history in the land of fantasy and make believe. Pilots are probably the last military personal that anyone could call heros, but they do look cool standing so proudly by their gazzilion dollar "death from above" machines and we'll do anything at all to save one that managed to get a bit of his own medicine, (a very very little bit). But it fits with the social values currently in vogue and highly paid technicians that kill people, mostly just unlucky poor saps that are in the wrong place and all that are perfect examples of "Amerika" today. The weapons these guys, and gals drop on god only knows what and who are among the most terrible and indiscriminate methods of terror we use. A 2000lb. explosive fragmentation bomb, if you really know the effects of just one of the fucking things, you would start going to church, stop paying taxes and maybe start shooting at the bastards that have played you into thinking they are "patriotic" and necessary. And we've got a whole slew of specialty ordinance even more horrible. Feels great to be and American, don't it? You never even have to think about what every President since I began voting needs to throw a few around to bring the poll numbers up and stay ahead in the pissing contest where we're the only entrants. I want foreign peacekeepers here NOW! Someone needs to monitor us and smash us around a bit when we get crazy and kill without reason, valid ones at least. Foreign troops doing a little 'search and destroy' and 'pacification' in a town near you might change some minds about what constitutes national security. We're still pissing and moaning over a few thousand and still aren't content that we've killed only enough to fill the Trade Towers maybe 50 or 60 times. Tain't fair! I mean how much is one "American" (U.S. if you're honest about our lack of a copyright on the continent) life worth? A million of those other weird fuckers that are filling up our playing field and actually want to use OUR resources, that's how many!! We oughta just kill everybody at once and clear some land for some "Settlements" maybe. It's in the Bible or something ain't it?
