Bush could do to bring gasoline costs down quickly. "It would be wrong of the president to provide false hope to people who think that we are going to be able to have an immediate impact to reduce gas prices," Bush spokeswoman Dana Perino told reporters. "This is something that we're all going to have to work through," she said as Bush travelled to Tennessee for a speech on Iraq and an election-year fundraiser, while oil prices struck a record high of 109.72 usd per barrel. "The price of crude oil and therefore the price of gasoline is very high and we know it is impacting America's consumers and some businesses especially. 	Sorry but I just don't have the heart to rewrite what any thinking American should quickly figure out for themselves. Why can't the congress or the senate (haha not Bush) realize that PROFITS are what is left after everything you can think of,including that new kitchen sink, has been paid for. Sure the price of a barrel of oil has skyrocketed,thanks to the Bush and Saudi families in collusion, but PROFITS are a totally different thing. The "trend" of declaring the highest profit margin,every quarter since Bush has been in office is either the biggest coincidence in hisory, or price gouging by the oil companies. It is comparable to winning the lottery every three months for 7 years! Even if you have to pay a higher amount for the unrefined product,obviously,undoubtedly, you are refinining the product and then increasing your profit margin before you send it to retail outlets. This is the wonder of unchecked capitalism that is so cherished by every red-blooded capitlist in the world. We progressives and the laws that used to be enforced (before W) call it price gouging and price fixing, if all the oil companies go along with it. We must put impeachment back where it should have started a year ago,on the table. Imagine the harm that has been done in the single year that Pelosi said impeachment was off the table. For all of you IDIOTS that say a president has no control over gas prices, you're idiots. If oil companies know that they may be prosecuted for price gouging or fixing, watch the prices go down at the pump. Because there would be no logical way for them to explain their increase in profits.Ugggh, what a bunch of dingdongs. Hell, a street corner drug dealer can see that scam. As for the increase in the per barrel price, they have admitted it is due to "speculators." Didn't Ken Lay and Enron teach our GENIUS(RICH) congress anything? It is called manipulation.Hell, make ALL transactions on the oil market cash up front and watch the "speculators" fade into the woodwork. It's not rocket science. It's a ponzi scheme that has been around for ever. Until we get some people who are not tied to the increasing profit, in "charge" then it will keep happening. 	The entire rest of the planet has been paying more than you are now for 30 years that I know of. Where I live the minimum wage is 80 cents an hour and gas just passed five bucks a gallon. 	80 cents an hour is a high wage,unfortunately, in some countries. I have traveled abroad and have been shocked by the per liter price. However, I think you are a liar and just post to cause trouble. If that were not the case then you would probably be incensed by the lying and the control that the oil compnies have over all economies. I made a true statement about profit;how it is calculated and how the greedy oil companies are taking advantage of Americans while our politicians profit from it.
