Remember the "Oil for Food" program? posted by Dookie The Webmaster 12:14 PM Make that "Oil OR Food" program: Oil passes $107, setting another record Oil prices hit $107.44, a new inflation-adjusted record and their fifth new high in the last six sessions. Meanwhile, gasoline prices were poised Monday to set a new record at the pump, having surged to within half a cent of their record high of $3.227 a gallon. The national average price of a gallon of gas rose 0.7 cent overnight to $3.222 a gallon, 69 cents higher than one year ago, according to AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. Last May, prices peaked at $3.227 as surging demand and a string of refinery outages raised concerns about supplies. That record will likely be left in the dust soon as gas prices accelerate toward levels that could approach $4 a gallon, though most analysts believe prices will peak below that psychologically significant mark. In its last forecast, released last month, the Energy Department said prices will likely peak around $3.40 a gallon this spring; a new forecast is due Tuesday. 	Why can't the congress or the senate (haha not Bush) realize that PROFITS are what is left after everything you can think of,including that new kitchen sink, has been paid for. Sure the price of a barrel of oil has skyrocketed,thanks to the Bush and Saudi families in collusion, but PROFITS are a totally different thing. The "trend" of declaring the highest profit margin,every quarter since Bush has been in office is either the biggest coincidence in hisory, or price gouging by the oil companies. It is comparable to winning the lottery every three months for 7 years! Even if you have to pay a higher amount for the unrefined product,obviously,undoubtedly, you are refinining the product and then increasing your profit margin before you send it to retail outlets. This is the wonder of unchecked capitalism that is so cherished by every red-blooded capitlist in the world. We progressives and the laws that used to be enforced (before W) call it price gouging and price fixing, if all the oil companies go along with it. We must put impeachment back where it should have started a year ago,on the table. Imagine the harm that has been done in the single year that Pelosi said impeachment was off the table. For all of you IDIOTS that say a president has no control over gas prices, you're idiots. If oil companies know that they may be prosecuted for price gouging or fixing, watch the prices go down at the pump. Because there would be no logical way for them to explain their increase in profits.Ugggh, what a bunch of dingdongs. Hell, a street corner drug dealer can see that scam. As for the increase in the per barrel price, they have admitted it is due to "speculators." Didn't Ken Lay and Enron teach our GENIUS(RICH) congress anything? It is called manipulation.Hell, make ALL transactions on the oil market cash up front and watch the "speculators" fade into the woodwork. It's not rocket science. It's a ponzi scheme that has been around for ever. Until we get some people who are not tied to the increasing profit, in "charge" then it will keep happening. 	Well md, I guess I'm an IDIOT then. And I'll more politely say that you're a properly brainwashed "progressive", or whatever label floats your boat, not that it matters a good goddamn. Do you realize you've been paying over three bucks a gallon for years and years? Doesn't that info come in your "Progressive" membership kit? Or do they tell you not to burden yourself with it and they'll keep you up to date as they decide your need to know. I thought not. It takes a simpleminded U.S.er to think the price at the pump is what you are paying. But you neglect to take into account the billions of dollars in subsidies and tax breaks that your taxes pay for. And probably as a typical "progressive" you think it's all a Republican scam too. Sorry to break it to you doc, but this is another bipartisan scam that's been in your pockets practically forever. Is that too complicated for your simple mind? What % of world reserves does the U.S. have? What is it? 3%? Or is it 4? And you actually think brainless in the Oval Office and the Saud's are controlling the world price? Is this info coming to you from the radios in your tooth fillings? Just pay attention to what bumpersticker and buttons you'll be needing to support the Dumbocrat "progressive" candidate of somebody other than yours choice. Keep in mind that the largest give away of public resources to the evil oil companies in U.S. history, something even Reagan couldn't pull off (not for lack of trying) was done by a recent "Progressive" hero as "one of the greatest Presidents ever". My teeth are shrinking from gritting them so often and so hard listening to saps who buy into whatever they're told to believe. I know, I know, there's two ways to see everything; your way and the wrong way. That might work if you had a clue about what you choose to over simplify, leaving out the equal guilt of your heros and having those nasty evil Repugnicans to blame it all on. THE SAME record profits that the oil companies have posted every quarter since Bush was appointed King. The 7 year steadily increasing RECORD PROFITS reported by the oil companies however are a phenomenon of the Bush presidency and they are certain to be a boon to Bush and the House of Saud. If you would like to argue the point please use some facts instead of your teeth grinding hatred of all things not Bush. Hey, Bush is a babykiller too. Babies, old women, young women he doesn't care.
