Obama Campaign Raises $55 Million In February
In an extraordinary haul, the Obama campaign confirms that it raised an astonishing $55 million in February.
More than $45 million of it was raised online.
Woah.
Remember, when the Hillary campaign announced they'd raised in the neighborhood of $36 million for the month, the Obama camp played it close to the vest, saying only that they'd raised "considerably more." They held off on releasing the figures until now -- after the March 4th voting -- which prompted speculation that they were hoping to release the numbers to either shift the story away from Hillary's victories or put a final nail in the Hillary campaign's coffin had she not had an impressive showing.

I prefer to give my extra $5 a month to the headonradio net work. Let George Soros and Bill Gates donate. They can afford it. My family needs to eat.

Anon - I see what you mean, but consider the fact that most of Obama's contributors have been "small" donors. Now, "small" is defined as something like less than $1,000, but still. You also have to consider that spending money on a decent candidate's campaign increases the chances of that person getting into office and changing the policies that are making it difficult to feed your kids. It doesn't help you in the short term, but could over the long haul.
I haven't donated to anyone's campaign yet because I wanted to wait to see who gets the Dem nomination, then give where it really counts. But I've become so adamantly against Clinton that I'm reconsidering. Just can't stand her split personality of crybaby and witch.

I can't speak for Dookie or Clyde, but I also haven't donated to a campaign yet (although this little endeavor you're reading is neither free for us (in time or money) nor easy. And now that I have a new job and actually have to "work" for a living, it's gotten even harder (mad props to Dookie for holding it up until things settle down here).
Anyway, once the decision is made, I'll throw funds at whoever it is that wins. Hell, I'd throw money, time, and effort at a 4 slice toaster if it was running against McCain.
I've been keeping my mouth shut about it for the most part, because I'm going to support whoever wins, but what the hell...
My first choice was Edwards because 1) he made his career fighting for the little guy against multinational mega-corps that have taken over our government, so I know he could ahve and would have continued to do so. 2) he was the only one that really laid out detailed policies that I agreed with (kucinich too - he was also on my short list).
My next choice was Obama. I see him as more of a leader than Hillary - talking about the future and "hope" and we sure need that. He's bringing over buttloads of independents and disenchanted republicans too, so that's all good. I see Clinton hanging out with the likes of Terry McCauliffe and Madeliene Albright and find it hard to think of "change" with her surrounded by the old guard.
That said, I still think Hillary will be a fine President if she wins the nod, and will work to make sure she wins the general election, even though she's not my first or even second choice.
Like I told the Edwards people at the Dem caucus in KS, who were all adamant about continuing to support him. What if he hadn't run at all? Would they still be holding signs for him? That's just silly. You know, I wanted the Bears to win the Super Bowl this year too, but how retarded would it be for me to cheer for them when they didn't make the playoffs?
It happens. It's politics. Sometimes your guy loses. So take the next best and run with it.
Even if the next best is a 4 slice toaster.

Hey Jenna,
I wouldn't say I'm totally against Clinton. I will vote for her if she wins the nomination. But for now, I'm with Obama. Like you, I haven't donated to either until just this week.
When the Clinton camp said McCain would make a better president than Obama, I immediately gave to Barack.
That kind of statement tells me Clinton is not party first. After the past 7 years, I don't want someone playing pussyfoot with the repukes.
So for the time being: F*ck Clinton.
