DALLAS -- Security details at Barack Obama's rally Wednesday stopped screening people for weapons at the front gates more than an hour before the Democratic presidential candidate took the stage at Reunion Arena. The order to put down the metal detectors and stop checking purses and laptop bags came as a surprise to several Dallas police officers who said they believed it was a lapse in security... Several Dallas police officers said it worried them that the arena was packed with people who got in without even a cursory inspection. 	I was just stunned when I read about this on Rawstory.com yesterday. At the time I was listening to a Sirius Radio program called Make it Plain with Mark Thompson. As it was the anniversary of the death of Malcolm X, he was hosting a panel discussion on political assassinations: MLK, JFK, RFK, etc. Conspiracy "theory" much??? posted by Dee at 12:07 PM


	I'd like to know where this order really came from. I'm not sure who the Secret Service really answers to. They have connections to both the current and former White House, so was it ordered by a candidate or the administration? They almost certainly did not make that decision on their own. They follow orders. That's one thing that concerns me about Obama. If he becomes President (and I really hope he does) we'll see security the likes of which we've never seen with another President. There are still plenty of supremacists out there and you can bet they belong to the NRA. posted by Jenna at 1:40 PM
