At least flip-flops are waterproof

McCain, "who was tortured as a prisoner of war in Vietnam, and is well-known for his opposition to waterboarding", says Bush should veto torture billRepublican presidential candidate John McCain said President Bush should veto a measure that would bar the CIA from using waterboarding and other harsh interrogation methods on terror suspects.
McCain voted against the bill, which would restrict the CIA to using only the 19 interrogation techniques listed in the Army field manual.
His vote was controversial because the manual prohibits waterboarding -- a simulated drowning technique that McCain also opposes -- yet McCain doesn't want the CIA bound by the manual and its prohibitions.
McCain spokeswoman Jill Hazelbaker noted that McCain believes that waterboarding is already banned by the Detainee Treatment Act of 2005, which includes an amendment he wrote barring inhumane treatment of prisoners. The act prohibited cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment for all detainees in U.S. custody, including CIA prisoners. For anyone still questioning the legality of the technique, consider the fact that after World War II, we not only convicted Japanese officers, but also executed them for using the exact same technique on American prisoners. When the Japanese did it, it was grounds for a death sentence. But when we do it it's okay? You have to be a Republican to find that logic reasonable.

Thanks Dee. We're here to serve. :)
Hard to disagree with Anon's assessment, but Repubs who are undercover as Dems are still Repubs.

By my count Wally there's about 15 Democratic Senators...the rest are all Republican, all the time. They say you can fool some of the people all of the time, and their the ones their concentrating on.
