	I've got 20% blood flow to the parts of my heart that are still alive. Also 4 herniated discs that a surgeon will not touch because of my heart condition, add in advanced spinal stenosis and life is very unpleasant. I have been battling social security to get my retirement and in another two years (past my life expectancy) I will get a trial with the ss administation.I bought my 11 year old a couple of gifts but I can't afford rent this month and my utilities are due to be shut off today. MERRY CHRISTMAS. I have paid into ss for 35 years, I meet the requirements spelled out on their(ss) homepage and my senator will do everything he can at my "trial" in 2 years. They gave me 5 years to live over 3 years ago. What a great nation we have. Come on repubs lets hear how lazy I am. I could work if I wanted to right? I get $600.00 a month from my carpenters union disability fund. That doesn't even pay for the 22 pills I take daily. Happy New Year. When I die then my son will get $1200.00 a month to be spent by his mother as she sees fit. My poor baby. I get 4000mgs of norco daily and 180mgs of morphine to help the pain. That doesn't even touch the pain but If my ex was a good woman it would solve my problem. I hate to leave my son with a closet republican. 	At least my union has covered my medical insurance ($700.00 a month) and has given me a small pension. The ss website says that if you have had 3 heart invasory(?) techniques performed w/in 1 year then you qualify for ss disability. I have surpassed that when my medicated stents reinstenosed (clogged up), but they have still refused me on the grounds that I earned a bachelors degree 30 years ago, and therefore I am employable, hell ican't walk 10 feet without falling or breathing openmouthed like a damn bull. lol, what a sad joke to play on regular Americans. I used to earn a good living. Lost my house, wife(thank God), and social life. I coached kids. posted by mike doty at 10:59 AM


	I hope the New Year brings better times, Mike. I know what you mean about closet Republicans - that describes pretty much my whole family. My dad is the only one who's seen the light. My mom still has momentary lapses into self-righteousness, her sister's family is all upper middle class - right wing heaven! My brother is blue collar, union - still voted for Bush both times because he thinks Democrats will take his guns away. 	Jen, my ex was part of a welfare raised family. Her oldest sister retired from a union job so did her husband. She now praises the republicans as saviours (they keep her families sizable Union pensions safe) and sends my ex all of these sickening right wing forwards(evangelical also.) 	God damn Mike, I don't know what to say. I too was refused SS disability after 20 or so years of paying and was told much the same as you. I got lucky though. A SS lady in charge of my case called a clinic that was trying to help me after brain surgery following a bad auto accident. She told my sister, who was taking care of me at the time because I couldn't that I should never have been refused and as of that minute I was put on permenant disability. She also told my sis that they refuse everybodys first application, hoping they'll go away or die. And this was under a Democratic administration, so blaming the Neos alone is misplaced anger, the whole system is a ponzi scheme. I hope some luck comes your way, I really do. You should contact your Representative instead of a fucking Senator. I've gotten help from my Representative more than once, but never even a call back from any of the hundred Lords. They're too important for a little person like yourself. Do not wait for this hearing they promise. There are law firms that can help. Your life sounds like Hell Mike and you have to make a lot of noise if you want any help from the government. I have other suggestions but they'd put me in sunny Cuba if I printed them here. Cuba's actually a nice place except for the part the fucking Gringos occupy. There you'd get help at least. Or Costa Rica or dozens of other places. I'd like to say God bless you, but I doubt you'd get any help there either, so I'll just say best of luck and fight for your benefits because that's the only way you'll ever get them. posted by Been there too at 2:25 AM


	I know my mother was denied SS her first time around. Then she got an SS lawyer and was approved the second time. It really sucks we have to go through with this after paying into SS all these years. posted by Dookie The Webmaster at 8:09 AM


	Thanks guys, I have an appt. with a lawyer in a couple of weeks. I just don't know how in the hell to surive until I get to pay him 25% OF MY BACK PAY. It sure seems like they'd(ss) be responsible for the legal fees if they lost. I know its the same under both corporate owned paties. We need to get rid of the profit motivation and make it a people based world. Thats one thing that blows me away about Kucciniich. Now all of these other politico's want to adopt his solutions as theirs and the "news" media doesn't give him any coverage or credit for starting the crap that the other polls are now claiming for their own.
