Trent Lott to Bail on Senate - There's More Money on the Lobbying Gravy Train

Sen. Trent Lott to resign NBC News: Minority whip would leave Senate before end of the yearNBC News has learned that Sen. Trent Lott, R-Miss., the minority whip is in the midst of informing close allies that he plans to resign his senate seat before the end of the year. It's possible a formal announcement of his plans could take place as early as today. Now what would cause someone as powerful as Trent Lott - the number 2 Republican in the Senate - to step down. More telling, what would cause him to resign a year early, before his term is up and he is facing re-election? It could be that we're about to find out some really good dirt about his private life - although looking at the likes of Tom Delay and David "diaper-Dave" Vitter - ethical violations and criminal activity don't seem to have much impact within the Republican party. While the exact reason Lott is stepping down before he finishes his term is unknown, the general speculation is that a quick departure immunizes Lott against tougher restrictions in a new lobbying law that takes effect at the end of the year. That law would require Senators to wait two-years before entering the lucrative world of lobbying Congress. That explains it. He's a Republican, so more than service to country, or duty, or patriotism or loyalty or integrity, it's all about the money flowing into his pocket.

Paid lobbyists should be illegal. Thay are certainly immoral and should remind all Americans that our country is run by money and special interest groups. The person whom I vote for will not take special interest money. Doesn't that just make sense?

You are absolutely correct in your opinion of paid lobbyists. They, in my opinion, are among lowest of the lows!
Imagine our political system if campaigns were financed by the government and lobbying were illegal...

Neither party is in a position to be pointing fingers...they're all dirty as a cesspool, which explains a lot about our governments inability to do anything right, now or anytime in the last several decades. They've talked about 'campaign finance reform' since god was in diapers and have not and will never institute any system that cuts them off from their sugar daddies. It's the one thing going on where bipartisian cooperation is a smooth operation. Everybody gets along just fine. It's when they start dividing the spoils they start talking about 'serving' the country. Most of these clowns apparently don't even know who has the authority to declare war for Christs sake! At least a posted article here a few days back insinuated that. Let's move the Capitol to the Northern border of North Dakota of Minnissota and build a barbed wire fence around it so we can keep an eye on these bastards. And if they want to vote to allow waterboarding then they should be brave enough to demonstrate how harmless it is. I'm free to help on that one.
