Biden: Impeachment if Bush bombs Iran

Presidential hopeful Delaware Sen. Joe Biden stated unequivocally that he will move to impeach President Bush if he bombs Iran without first gaining congressional approval.

Biden spoke in front of a crowd of approximately 100 at a candidate forum held Thursday at Seacoast Media Group. The forum focused on the Iraq war and foreign policy. When an audience member expressed fear of a war with Iran, Biden said he does not typically engage in threats, but had no qualms about issuing a direct warning to the Oval Office.

"The president has no authority to unilaterally attack Iran, and if he does, as Foreign Relations Committee chairman, I will move to impeach," said Biden, whose words were followed by a raucous applause from the local audience. Biden said he is in the process of meeting with constitutional law experts to prepare a legal memorandum saying as much and intends to send it to the president.

When local resident Joel Carp asked Biden why not impeach now, given what has already been done, Biden said it was a valid point, but might not be constitutionally valid and potentially counterproductive. A case for impeachment must have clear evidence, Biden said, and blame should be directed at the right parties. "If you're going to impeach George Bush, you better impeach (Vice President Dick) Cheney first," said Biden, again drawing applause.

Biden said the best deterrent to prevent pre-emptive military action in Iran is to make it clear, even if it is at the end of his final term, action will be taken against Bush to ensure "his legacy will be marred for all time."...

Ya right

Oh, yes... let's wait until the psychopath actually goes through with the threat before "restraining" him.

When someone genuinely threatens to murder someone else, isn't that enough of a crime to get the would-be attacker jailed? Somehow, it stops being a crime if it's the leader of the nation making the threat, and the victims are a bunch of nameless A-rabs half-a-world away that our evangelican Christians want dead anyway?

Threating murder while having the means to do it is an obvious crime. George W. Bush isn't just threatening murder, but murder on the scale of WMD's. For that simple fact alone, he should be impeached and removed from office -- to say nothing of the hundreds of other crimes that justify his removal, lengthy and extensive trials, and ultimately spending the rest of his life imprisoned (or maybe we could give him to the surviving Iraqis and let them use a camera phone to record his hanging).

Amen. If there is not enough evidence to impeach Bush right now, then there never will be. There are only a few hundred books on the market that spell out his exact impeachable crimes. I'm sad to say so but I think our Democrats are just as crooked as the Republicans. If not, they would honor their duty to have Bush impeached and put on trial. Hell, he is an international war criminal just to start with.

One of the few possibilities as to why the Dems have so conviently and completly forgotten their oaths of office is that the Repugs have dirt on all of them. Dirt they'd rather kill everybody else on the planet rather than have come to light. How many other explanations are there for being coconspiritors these long long years? Unless they're actually brothers and sisters in spirit, which I also think is very possible. Really what does todays Democratic party stand for? I said stand, remember. I haven't seen them stand on their hind legs for years and years.
