Hands down: Bomb Iran, majority of Americans says in new poll Despite President Bush's perpetually abysmal approval ratings, his increasingly hostile rhetoric against Iran has drummed up enough fear of a "nuclear holocost" or a World War III that a majority of Americans are in favor of a US strike against the country aimed a curtailing its apparent nuclear ambitions, a new poll shows. The Zogby International survey shows 52 percent of Americans would support a strike on Iran, while 53 percent expect President Bush to launch such an attack before the end of his second term. Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton is voters' No. 1 choice to deal with Iran, with 21 percent saying they would like to see her take on Tehran from the White House. Republican Rudy Giuliani was voters' second choice, with 15 percent. Just 29 percent of Americans think the US should not attack Iran, with one in five people unsure about military action. Of those who would support a strike, 28 percent believe military action should wait until the next president is in office, while 23 percent want to see Bush let lose US missiles against Iran. . . . "It is utterly stunning that, after the great difficulties we have clearly faced in Iraq (a situation far from finished, by the way), that an absolute majority would favor a strike on Iran at this time," writes Dr. Steven Taylor at PoliBlog. "Even if we assume that the die-hard 25%-30% who still approve of the way the President is doing his job also are in favor of such a strike, where do the other 27%-22% come from to get the pro-strike total to 52%?" 	Who, may I ask, where they polling? Did they get a good cross section of socioeconomic and education levels? Because I find it almost impossible to believe that the same pool of Americans that favor pulling out of Iraq (65%) would also favor bombing Iran. 	My money is on: They simply made the figure up and have released it in an attempt to see what public reaction is. The reasoning is probably something along the lines of "if people think the majority of the country wants it, maybe they won't be as quick to protest". It's just lies and a blatant effort at control through the media. Assuming that media are lying about politics is a safe bet. Just because they said they performed a poll doesn't mean they actually did. Why go to all that effort when they're just going to lie about the results, anyway? 	I see we have 'deniers' here, but you said it all in one sentence. The U.S. is by far the single dumbest fucking country on planet earth. Having visited more than 40 different countries in my life, and presently living in a 'third world' country where you can have a conversation with most 12 year olds about say...the World Bank, and they almost universally know more than most "college graduates" in Dumbfuckistan. It's another great argument why the Federal Government shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the education system. When what little history you learn is just govt. propaganda, what do you expect? And it's not like people aren't aware of this. Every year you read how 60 some percent of students in Texas don't know what country lies South of the U.S. and in Illinois a similiar percentage doesn't know what country lies North of the U.S.. I just scratch my head and think...Huh! Look at every single thing they do and tell me one single thing the government handles well. Just one. They could fuck up a wet dream, and probably have. And passed laws about your wet dreams. Garbage in - Garbage out. Works for people as well as computers. It's pretty simple nowadays. As soon as you hear the word 'Hitler' you know a wars about to begin. Go to You Tube and search for 'stupid Americans'.
