On this day six years ago, Bush ignored "Bin Laden Determined To Strike In US." Instead of capturing the the man responsible, Bush would rather wiretap John Q. Public here at home:

I wonder if Bush will ignore this one too?

Didn't Bush respond to the report with something like, "OK, now you've covered your ass."?
Simple fact is, bin Laden has quite probably been dead for years (kidney dialysis ain't easy to do in caves), and this administration has been making fake videos of his "recent" efforts to try to use him for "booga-booga" value. That simple fact alone is enough to suggest to me that these earlier reports were simply cover story efforts by those involved, and bin Laden was simply a handy, self-made enemy that we could name and blame for the event.
bin Laden himself denied any involvement in the attacks. Not that it mattered -- the "ignored reports" had already set him up to take the fall.
