That's Not How They Teach It In Civics Class - Cheney Says The V.P. Is Not Part Of The Executive Branch

You can't make this shit up. The Vice President of the United States is either a complete moran who has no clue about his own job after 6 years, or he's absolutely batshit crazy. I'm leaning towards both.
Cheney told the House Oversight Committee that he doesn't have to worry about any of those silly presidential laws about safeguarding classified information, because.... well, just read the article from the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform: Vice President Exempts His Office from the Requirements for Protecting Classified Information
The Oversight Committee has learned that over the objections of the National Archives, Vice President Cheney exempted his office from the presidential order that establishes government-wide procedures for safeguarding classified national security information. The Vice President asserts that his office is not an "entity within the executive branch."
As described in a letter from Chairman Waxman to the Vice President, the National Archives protested the Vice President's position in letters written in June 2006 and August 2006. When these letters were ignored, the National Archives wrote to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales in January 2007 to seek a resolution of the impasse. The Vice President's staff responded by seeking to abolish the agency within the Archives that is responsible for implementing the President's executive order.
In his letter to the Vice President, Chairman Waxman writes: "I question both the legality and wisdom of your actions. ... [I]t would appear particularly irresponsible to give an office with your history of security breaches an exemption from the safeguards that apply to all other executive branch officials."

EDIT: As my good friend Nancy pointed out last night, if Cheney's not part of the Executive Branch, how the hell can he keep crying "Executive Priviledge" everytime someone asks him for information? Can't have it both ways, Dick.

I know that capital punishment has a lot of good arguments against it, and Liberals generally are against it. But I argue that there is indeed a time and a place for it, and if this guy isn't the time and the place then neither was Saddam, Hitler, Pol Pot, and all those other insults to the human race. As are others in the present regiem. Hanging? I say build the worlds biggest microwave and watch em explode. On Pay per View. Charges? Yikes, it'd take a book, looting the treasury, murder, war crimes, terrorism etc. etc. etc. This man needs to be made an example of, along with his pet monkey and his pet Latino, and several dozen others. The Constitution gives us the power to sweep our sullied government clean, we just need the guts to use the power invested in us, The People. If not now, when? What more do we have to take before we take our country back? Because they'll never give it up willingly. If we don't take it, we're just slaves.
