Here's to the people and the future of the great city of New Orleans.

May she rise from the water and wreckage better than ever (in spite of Bush and Brownie).

In keeping with the partisan bickering that passes for political discourse in this country today nobody wants to discuss the feasability of the future of this city. Why should New Orleans be rebuilt? It was an important port when it was French and then Spanish property. It continued after the Lousinana Purchase, but today a very good argument can be made that building coastal cities below sea level is pretty stupid. It is no longer an important or necessary port, so why not get the message and explore alternatives to rebuilding? Because facts are not what's important any more. A lot more than New Orleans suffered and was destroyed by Katrina (and shortsighted, incompetent govt. flood control), but all the emphasis is on this one city at the expense of many others with better arguments for "saving". Why are the "environmentalists" intent on rebuilding an environmental disaster like New Orleans? Because emotion is so much easier than thinking.

Ummm yeah, it's just the "environmentalists" that are intent on rebuilding New Orleans.
It's the "environmentalists" (along with their crazy "scientist" friends) that rely on "emotion" and ignore things like "facts".

Dumbass.

Duh, Dumbass, or is it JJ, My point was that environmentalists should be the ones leading the debate about the wisdom of rebuilding. Seems everybody thinks rebuilding is the only answer. People concerned with the environment should know better than others the downsides (the many many downsides) of such a plan. Doesn't anybody speak English anymore? What's your gripe, the fact that I put environmentalists in quotes? That was an indication of my belief that many who consider themselves environmentalists really aren't. A Save the Whales bumpersticker doesn't make you an environmentalist. As with much else, most Americans who call themselves environmentalists don't even know very much about the issues they proclaim to value so highly. So there, now you can think up another stupid name to call me. Uckfay Uyay

If that was your point, then why didn't you make it in a halfway clear coherent manner?

Probably because you're a dumbass.

When you make blanket statements about large groups of people you've never met it only adds to the evidence that my initial assessment was correct.
