What do those meddling scientists and climatologists know about Science and the climate anyway?

Once again, scientists are speaking out against the Bush administration's censorship of their findings and reports on climate change. The difference is, this time they have Congress on their side. In the House, Rep Henry Waxman (D-CA), chairman of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee, is holding hearings on the issue. In the Senate, Barbara Boxer (D-CA) also held a "meeting where senators were to express their views on global warming in advance of a broader set of hearings on the issue."The groups presented a survey that shows two in five of the 279 climate scientists who responded to a questionnaire complained that some of their scientific papers had been edited in a way that changed their meaning. Nearly half of the 279 said in response to another question that at some point they had been told to delete reference to "global warming" or "climate change" from a report.
At the Waxman hearing, the two advocacy groups said their research - based on the questionnaires, interviews and documents obtained through the Freedom of Information Act - revealed "evidence of widespread interference in climate science in federal agencies." Bush tried to talk a good game about addressing global climate change in his State of the Union Address, but as usual, his actions belie his words. He still refuses to accept any form of "mandatory" caps on emissions or federal regulations on industry, claiming they'd be "too expensive". And how expensive will it be to continue to stall and do nothing? Ask the people of New Orleans.

As repulsive as the Neo crowd is, the so called "liberals" in government are just as, or more so hypocritical. Clinton was the first to reject Kyoto (a flawed and essentially useless treaty) and the Senate, by a vote of 95 to 0 agreed. So have more than 17,000 scientists and engineers. There's lies, damn lies, and then there's statistics. And you can prove or disprove the whole global warming scare and back either argument with solid sounding statistics. Computer modeling sounds very compelling, but in fact could better be described as wild assed guesses. Remember silicone breast implants? Or power line dangers that it turned out didn't exist (not till after we spent 25 billion fucking dollars "fixing" it). There's a long list of supposed proof of all kinds of things that have proven false. These same people that are telling you that sea levels in 20 years will be somewhere between six inches and sixty feet highter than now are the same people that said the same thing 20 years ago. Research both sides of this argument before you make a judgement. Don't take Al Gores word for it, that film is full of exagerations, outright bullshit and selective statistical "information". Gee Al, you and Bill were the first administration in 25 years that never increased or tried to increase milage on cars. They get their money from the same corporations that the Neos do, so don't depend on them for the truth. I am not saying that global warming is not happening, I'm just saying that it's not a proven fact. You believe what you want to believe, but form your own opinions, don't just ape what you're told by proven unreliable sources (politicians and the "news".) There is NOT any absolute proof that humans are the driving force behind the changes going on in the worlds climate, there just isn't. Maybe it's a guilt thing, what with being 5% of the worlds population and using something like 45% of the resources. But have you sold your car? Sworn off mass produced livestock? Turned your thermostat down to 50 degrees or less. I'd bet not. You want Brazil to stop cutting down it's trees, you want China to stop industralizing, you basically want the rest of the world to fix things, while we continue to increase our use of coal and other carbon fuels. Bush is an ignorant asshole, but this isn't his fault any more than it's yours and mine. We're pigs and few have any plans on stopping that behaviour. Kyoto is at most a symbolic fake, read the damn thing. I'd bet you haven't, have you? Maybe Al Gores word is good enough for you, but sorry, he's no better than any other politician. I could give you a hundred examples of how this whole thing is being used as a scare tactic, real or not, but you go find out yourself. You're already convinced we're on the brink of disaster, so you owe it to yourself and the rest of the world to listen to the other side of the argument. You might find some surprises out there. It is far far from a unanamus fact on the causes and reasons for todays climate, regardless what the propagandists tell you. I was a sheep on this issue, believed everything the "environmentalists" told me. Then I started really studying the facts and am now not sure of anything, just like lots and lots of scientists. Anybody that tells you with confidence what the weather will be like in 50 years is a bullshitter supremo. They can't get next weeks weather right but a computer model, that has proven wrong again and again, is suddenly the truth cast in stone. Nope.
